THE WOODLANDS SHOW CHORUS

This internatio­nally-placed chorus is searching for additional singers as they prepare for their next internatio­nal contest in St. Louis, MO in the fall of 2018. TWSC began just five years ago, as the largest and fastest chartering chorus in Sweet Adelines history. They are hosting an Open House on Monday, Oct. 23, at their regular rehearsal hall for interested singers. WRITING WRITERS IN PERFORMANC­E SERIES

Writers in Performanc­e announces its fall 2017 schedule of readings. The Oct. 19 event features Bruce Bond at 7 p.m. The event is at Building G-102, Lone Star College-Montgomery. Following the reading and Q& A, there will be a book signing. Bruce Bond is the author of fifteen books including, most recently, For the Lost Cathedral (LSU Press, 2015) and The Other Sky (Etruscan Press, 2015). Four of his books are forthcomin­g: Immanent Distance: Poetry and the Metaphysic­s of the Near at Hand (University of Michigan Press), Black Anthem (Tampa Review Prize, University of Tampa Press), Gold Bee (Crab Orchard Open Competitio­n Award, Southern Illinois University Press), and Sacrum (Four Way Books). He has received numerous honors including the Allen Tate Award, the New South Award, the Knightvill­e Poetry Award, the Richard Peterson Prize, and fellow-

ships from the NEA and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Presently he is Regents Professor at University of North Texas and Poetry Editor for American Literary Review.
