Chesmar sells GHBA Benefit home

-

Chesmar Homes recently announced it has sold its 2017 Benefit Homes Project home in the new community of Elyson in west Houston.

The home was built with donated materials and labor by members of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA). The project is a 37-year-old charity fundraiser sponsored by the GHBA.

GHBA members that include vendors and trades donated their materials and services to the home’s construction. Vendors donating include W.R. Watson Inc., TopBuild Home Services, Wayne Dalton, Garland Insulation, Bryant Electric, Geo-Tech Engineering, Modern System Concepts, Southwest Sales, Sprint Companies, AllPoints Services, Boral Building Products, GE Applicances, Builders First Choice, Lanehart Electric, Hy-Tech Plumbing Contractors, Rock Materials, AHI Supply and Owens Corning.

“It is exciting news to know the Chesmar home sold and funds will soon be going to the two important charities,” said Will Holder, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project. “The generosity of the builder, the developer, and the vendors and trades continue to define the integrity of the Houston home-building industry. ”

These donations made it possible to complete construction of Chesmar’s 2,733-square-foot Poplar plan. It includes amenities and upgrades not often found in homes with similar pricing. Proceeds from the sale of the home will be presented to HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. Since the fundraiser began, $10 million has been raised.

The home in Elyson is the fifth Benefit home built by Chesmar and this is the second lot donated by Newland Communities.

The two-story Poplar is from Chesmar’s Arbor Collection and features four bedrooms and three full baths. Common areas are an open design. Two bedrooms on the second floor and a game room provides plenty of space. The first-floor master suite has a walk-in closet. This home also includes a secondary bedroom on the first floor with a full bath. The home has a covered rear patio and a two-car garage.

The interior also features a fireplace with an alder mantel, iron stairway spindles, granite countertops in the kitchen and the baths, stainlesssteel appliances, undercabinet lighting and overhead pendant lighting in the kitchen. There are wood floors in the entry, family room, dining room and the stairs. The exterior is a combination of brick and stone.

“The home buyers purchased this Benefit home because of the full line of amenities and the openness of the floor plan,” Holder said.
