EXCELLENT PATIENT CARE
Memorial Hermann opens dedicated neuroscience facility
Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center has created a 25,000-square-foot space dedicated to neuroscience providers. The Mischer Neuroscience Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, located at 9180 Pinecroft, Suite 500, brings together more than 20 physicians from multiple disciplines, including neurosurgeons, neuro-endovascular surgeons, neurologists and neuropsychologists.
Josh Urban, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, said Mischer Neuroscience Associates was moved into the larger facility to closely collaborate and provide better patient care as well as convenience.
“We want to provide excellent patient care and also convenience,” Urban said. “We are the largest group of neuroscience providers in Montgomery County, and the neuroscience center allows us to offer the best comprehensive brain and spine care to residents of Montgomery County all under one roof. It also allows for the neuroscience providers to work closely together and collaborate in a multidisciplinary approach, which leads to optimal patient care.”
The Mischer Neuroscience Center provides consistent 24/7 neuroscience coverage and a variety of services, including treatment of brain injuries, cerebral
palsy, ischemic strokes, epilepsy, sleep disorders and many more. According to Dr. Geoffrey Zubay, neurosurgeon and regional medical director, now that everything is in a central location, patients receive a seamless delivery of services.
“We pride ourselves on providing comprehensive, high-quality, subspecialized neurological services to our community. ... You’re receiving most of your advance health care under the same roof and you have the added comfort in knowing that throughout the evaluation and treatment process, referring physicians are kept informed about patient progress,” Zubay said.
The location of the center provides easy access to neurological services for those in Montgomery County, but the physicians also help patients throughout the greater Houston area. Mischer Neuroscience Center works with the Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Institute at the Texas Medical Center, which boasts more than 80 nationally recognized faculty members. Through these connections, patients have an expert team of clinicians and neurosurgeons they can turn to for treatment and care.
Future plans for the Mischer Neuroscience Center include a 30-bed expansion of floor and ICU beds on a dedicated floor for patients.
“This expansion is to coincide with our advancement in neurosciences and pursuit of a Comprehensive Stroke Center Designation,” Urban said.
The Mischer Neuroscience Center waiting room is named after Woodforest National Bank for its $500,000 donation to support the new neuroscience center. The facility also will feature its own sixperson call center once fully staffed later this month. To contact the center, call 713-897-5900.
