Baylor prevails in Junkanoo Jam
White leads way as 2nd-ranked Texas breezes past Washington
BIMINI, Bahamas — Kalani Brown scored 23 points, and Lauren Cox had 22 to lead No. 8 Baylor to an 80-57 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday in the championship game of the Junkanoo Jam.
The Lady Bears (5-1) never trailed after Brown scored eight points in an early 11-0 run.
“Bottom line, as I told them, we won. We won a championship. I don’t care where you are, championships are hard to come by,” Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said. “We’re a team that carries Baylor across the chest, and we’re not the same team we were as last year. But we’re pretty darn good.””
Imani Tilford led the Yellow Jackets (6-1) with 13 points
TEXAS 92, WASHINGTON 68
Junior Jatarie White was 10-of-12 from the field and scored 24 points to go along with seven rebounds in the secondranked Longhorns’ victory over the Huskies at the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas.
Brooke McCarty added 15 points, six rebounds and six assists as Texas (5-0) shot 57 percent from the field and used a 20-0 run in the first half to pull away.
Lashann Higgs and Alecia Sutton each had 10 points for Texas, which never trailed.
Amber Melgoza led Washington (2-3) with 12 points.
HOUSTON 72 NORTHEASTERN 64
Sophomore guard Angela Harris scored a career-high 25 points to help lead the Cougars past the Huskies at the UMass Thanksgiving Classic in Amherst, Mass.
Harris was 9-of-13 from the field including 5-of-7 from beyond the 3-point line.
Jasmyne Harris added 17 points and six rebounds for Houston (4-2). Dorian Branch finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Kaitlyn Palmer scored 24 points in the Lady Tigers’ loss to the Miners in the UTEP Thanksgiving Classic at El Paso.
Joyce Kennerson added 16 points for Texas Southern (1-4).

Shala Dobbins scored 21 points, but the Lady Panthers lost to the Islanders in the Feast Of Sharing Tournament at Edinburg.
Jordyn Penniman added 17 points for Prairie View A&M (2-2).

The Huskies were held to only 21 points over the final two quarters and lost to the Golden Eagles at Tulsa, Okla.
Down 39-35 at the half, Houston Baptist (1-3) was outscored 19-10 in the third quarter and 20-11 in the fourth.
Amanda Johnson led the Huskies with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Azura Stevens recorded one of three doubledoubles for the Huskies and reached 1,000 points for her career as topranked Connecticut won at the PK80 Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
Stevens had 25 points and 16 rebounds for the Huskies (5-0), who won their 136th consecutive game against an unranked foe. Kia Nurse added 20 points, Napheesa Collier had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Crystal Dangerfield had 10 points and 10 assists.

Jackie Young scored 23 points, and Arike Ogunbowale added 21 as the No. 6 Irish overcame a brilliant performance by Kitija Laksa to beat the No. 17 Bulls in the Gulf Coast Showcase semifinals at Estero, Fla.
Young and Ogunbowale combined for 18 points in the fourth quarter for Notre Dame (5-0), which will play No. 3 South Carolina for the tournament title Sunday night.
Laksa led the way for South Florida (5-1), scoring 36 points and shooting 9-for-11 from 3-point range.
DUKE 72, OREGON ST. 65
Lexie Brown scored the last 10 points of the game for the No. 16 Blue Devils, who held off the 18th-ranked Beavers at Durham, N.C.
Rebecca Greenwell hit four 3-points and scored 17 points to go with nine rebounds for Duke (4-1).

Amber Smith and Sophie Cunningham scored 11 points apiece as the No. 23 Missouri handed the No. 21 Golden Bears a loss in the Cal Classic at Berkeley, Calif.
Missouri (5-1) won the tournament title by making nine of 18 3-pointers.
