Builders Post Tension presents Harvey relief check to HomeAid
Greg Tomlinson, president of Builders Post Tension (BPT), and a HomeAid board member, coordinated a fundraiser with the help of his employees to raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief. BPT reached out to customers, vendors and friends via phone, email and social media to raise awareness about the ongoing recovery efforts of thousands who have lost everything as their homes flooded from Hurricane Harvey in August. Requests for help were answered, and the response was a generous $4,000 raised. BPT also matched the $4,000, bringing the total to $8,000 for relief efforts.
BPT, a member of the Greater Houston Builders Association, gave $3,000 to employees affected by Harvey to help with their expenses to get back on their feet. The remaining $5,000 was presented to HomeAid for Houston’s Hurricane Harvey Fund.
“We know these funds go toward a wonderful cause because HomeAid continues to improve the lives of so many facing homelessness,” said Tomlinson. “Hurricane Harvey added tens of thousands of displaced Houstonians. Funds to help these folks are coming from all over, and we are happy to be a part of that effort.”
HomeAid Houston builds transitional housing for the homeless. The agency, started in 2003, is a 501 (c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association. HomeAid dedicated their first shelter in 2005. Since then, 46 projects have been completed, adding more than 437 beds and 12.6 million dollars in real estate construction and improvements to Houston’s homeless community. Annually, HomeAid’s projects serve more than 5,000 homeless men, women, children and veterans in Houston.
