No. 8 Wichita St. proves too much for No. 16 Baylor

WACO — Conner Frankamp scored 17 points, and No. 8 Wichita State closed the game on a 7-0 run to beat No. 16 Baylor 69-62 on Saturday, ending the Bears’ 46-game nonconfere­nce home winning streak.

The Shockers (6-1) shot 63 percent (10-for-16) from 3-point range, with Frankamp’s 5-for-8 from beyond the arc leading the way. It was the senior’s 3-pointer from the right corner with 2:50 remaining that began Wichita State’s decisive run, and the Shockers were 4-for-5 from the free throw line in the final 1:38.

Manu Lecomte scored 12 of his 15 points in the first half for Baylor (5-2). TCU 92, YALE 66

Desmond Bane scored 18 points, Jaylen Fisher had 17 points and seven assists, and the No. 23 Horned Frogs won their nation-leading 13th straight game, routing the Bulldogs in Fort Worth.

Kenrich Williams had his fourth straight double-double and fifth of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds to help TCU start 8-0 for the second straight season. Williams had double-doubles in all five NIT games when the Frogs won that title last season.

Miye Oni led Yale (5-5) with 18 points in the first meeting between the schools. SMU 72

Ben Emelogu had 11 of his 16 points in a big goahead run after halftime, and the Mustangs upset the 14th-ranked Trojans in Dallas.

Nick Dickson scored 19 points off the bench, and the Vaqueros (4-6) snapped a four-game skid, edging the Owls at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Rice’s Connor Cashaw hit a 3-pointer to cut it to 69-67 with 1:04 remaining but then he and Bishop Mency each missed from distance after that as time expired.

William Gates Jr. matched his career best with 18 points, Josh Ibarra added 14 with a careerhigh 17 rebounds and six assists, and the Huskies (3-5) beat the Bobcats at Sharp Gym.

Tre’Shaun Fletcher had 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the Rockets edge the Tigers in Toledo, Ohio.

Joey Frenchwood nailed a 3-pointer in the final seconds of overtime to secure the win as the Cardinals beat the Chanticlee­rs in Conway, S.C.

Colton Weisbrod led Lamar (6-1) with 19 points, and Frenchwood finished with 16, hitting four of seven from deep. UTEP 69 HOUSTON BAPTIST 62

Najala Howell scored 19 points, Tamara Seda added 18 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, and the Miners (5-1) beat the Huskies in El Paso

Amanda Johnson scored 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting to lead Houston Baptist (2-4), and Sophie Taylor added 13.
