Fast start propels Rutgers past UH

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Tyler Scaife scored 24 points to lead Rutgers past Houston 75-57 on Saturday.

The Scarlet Knights (122) started quickly, making seven of their first 11 shots from the field, including six in a row at one point, to take a 15-2 lead.

Angela Harris led the Cougars (8-3) with 15 points. Dorian Branch followed with 13 points, and Jasmyne Harris added 11.

Three Cougars finished in double-figures with Angela Harris leading the way with 15 points. Dorian Branch followed with 13 points while Jasmyne Harris rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points in the loss.

Naomi Davenport scored 20 points to lead the No. 10 Mountainee­rs past the Highlander­s at Charleston, W.Va.

Teana Muldrow, the nation’s sixth-leading scorer at 23.2 points per game, added 12 points and 13 rebounds for West Virginia (10-0).

Katelynn Flaherty scored 21 points, and Hallie Thome added 18 as the No. 23 Wolverines won at Ann Arbor, Mich.

Michigan (10-2) scored the first 10 points and led 21-2 after the first quarter.
