Highlander­s earn four 12-6A superlativ­es

THE WOODLANDS – Weeks after capturing its ninth district title in the last 10 years, The Woodlands took home four of the six superlativ­e award in District 12-6A.

KeSean Carter, a Texas Tech commit in both football and track, was named the district MVP for his electric contributi­ons on offense and special teams.

Jackson Shearer, a linebacker for the Highlander­s, was the Defensive Player of the Year. Bryeton Gilford, a running back who contribute­d more and more as the season wore on, was named the Sophomore of the Year. Mark Schmid was honored as Coach of the Year.

Beaumont West Brook’s L’Ravien Elia won Offensive Player of the Year and Malik Jackson of Lufkin was the Return Specialist award winner.

On the first team offense, Montgomery – a multiple offense that averaged 29.5 points per game – led the district with six selections: Quarterbac­k Jordan Hood, fullback Daniel Dobis, running back Alex Nunn, wide receiver Caleb Campbell, tight end Jody Miller and lineman Ryan Johnson.

West Brook was close behind with five first-team offense selections: linemen Donavan Edwards and Kendall Majors, receivers Bralin Simon and Deonte Simpson, and running back James Jones.

Conroe, Lufkin and Oak Ridge all had three players on the first team offense. For the Tigers, it was running back Donaven Lloyd, tight end Travis Null and lineman Cole Brown. Lineman Quynton Cole, quarterbac­k Kewone Thomas and running back Isaiah Phillips were the honorees for the Panthers. For the War Eagles, the firstteam selections were linemen Tyler Johnson and LT Hutchins, and receiver Tanner Lacy.

Lineman Jake Syptak and receiver Connor Klapesky made the first team offense for The Woodlands. Receiver Travis Washburn earned a spot for College Park.

On defense, Oak Ridge led the district with seven first-team selections: ends Joseph Ossai and Dekoven Turpeau, lineman Darius Richmond, inside linebacker Brennan Young, outside backers Nathaniel Bushek and DJ Hurd and safety Malachi Cramm.

Lufkin and The Woodlands had six first-team defense selections each. For the Panthers the honorees were lineman Carl Williams, inside backer Jackson Treadwell, outside backer Deandre Bagley, cornerback Trey McDaniel and safeties Jerrin Thompson and Jeremiah Davis. The Highlander­s selections were ends Sean Stavinoha and Jonathan Hoover, lineman AJ Maeste, outside backer Carson Reich, corner Shane Sirashney and safety Austin Winfield.

West Brook had five first-team defense selections: end Tyree Cormier, lineman Taylor Bullock, inside backer Donald Collins, outside backer Daniel Coleman and corner DeMarcus Coleman.

Conroe inside backer Tydus Clay and College Park end Austin Fox were also on the first-team defense.

The first-team special teamers were kickers Carson Mohr (College Park) and Rodrigo Molina (Lufkin), punter Parker Venema (Oak Ridge) and deep snapper Max Quick (Lufkin).

The second-team offensive selections were: linemen Brad Hudson (The Woodlands), Evan Morris (The Woodlands), Jett Duncan (The Woodlands), Thomas Worley (West Brook), Hunter Hollis (Lufkin), JD Williams (Montgomery), Gage Roberts (Oak Ridge) and Jackson Fort (College Park); receivers Trayveon Franklin (Montgomery), Jalen Allen (Conroe), Damon Ward (West Brook), Darius Jelks (Oak Ridge) amd Zane Watson (The Woodlands); quarterbac­ks Quintin Johnson (The Woodlands) and Reinard Britz (Oak Ridge); running backs Lucas Summers (The Woodlands) and Nick McCants (Oak Ridge).

The second-team defensive selections were: ends Alan Barrera (Conroe), Jackson Shupp (The Woodlands) and Grant Mountain (The Woodlands); linemen Keithen Scott (West Brook), March Thomas (Lufkin) and Caleb Fox (The Woodlands); inside backers Cameron Murray (West Brook) and Marcus Sweat (Conroe); outside backers Savon Fields (Lufkin) and Ian Irby (The Woodlands); corners Lucas McCaleb (Montgomery), Steven Jones (West Brook), DeAngelo Alexander (The Woodlands), Kyle Trauffler (The Woodlands) and Damond Moreland (Lufkin); safeties Cooper Lucas (College Park), Darrel Hawkins (West Brook) and Zach Verne (The Woodlands).

Kicker Fabrizio Pinton (The Woodlands) and deep snapper Keaton Bussell (Montgomery) were the second-team special teamers.

The offensive honorable mentions from Oak Ridge were Jacob Mackey, Bishop Durst, Kamari Williams, TreVarius Grimes, Hunter Pachel, Casey Duhon, Justin Tesno, Javier Chavez, Kendrick Johnson and Kavon Townsend. From College Park, Daniel Vann and Joshua Bankhead were honorable mentions. Conroe’s Brandon Schnautz, Adan Pavon, Jacob Thompson, Ameer Patton and Jordan Black were honorable mention. Malik Jonson, Ryan Farquhar and Peyton Fifield were The Woodlands’ honorable mentions on offense.

On defense, the honorable mentions from The Woodlands were Dylan Calvetti, Ben Langston and Jacob Moore. For Montgomery, it was Noah Delahoussa­ye, Kyle Koss, Tanner Hamilton, Ryan Brock and Dalton Niesner. Zavier Johnson, Trevor Gwaltney, Trace Gwaltney and Mykedrian Ellis were Oak Ridge’s honorable mentions on defense. College Park’s Daniel Fernandez, Haden Stark and Sean Eckenrode were honorable mentions, as were Conroe’s Davian Sneed, Dy’Terrius Ellis, Colton Camillo, Dominique Ratcliff and Dylan Weaver.
