Contemporary ‘butterfly roof house’ is near Memorial Park

- By Lisa Zapalac

Offered on the market for the first time, this award-winning contemporary home has been featured in various publications and home tours.

Listing agent Andrew McCain of John Daugherty, Realtors says the home — built on the high banks of Buffalo Bayou — is adjacent to restaurants and Memorial Park.

Completed in 1995 with Taft Architects and Renaissance Builders, the three-story home is stunning, with its walls of windows that view the beautiful natural setting in what could best described as “living in a treehouse.”

With 3,000 square feet, 5715 Logan is known as the “butterfly roof house” because of its V-shaped, inverted gable roof that resembles the wing span of a butterfly.

The home is unique and inviting inside and out, with largescale windows that view lush greenbelts, landscaping and trees.

Inside, ceilings soar up to 26 feet in open living areas that offer views at every angle as in the open living and dining rooms.

The kitchen has no upper cabinetry to enable open-view sight lines and features stainless-steel appliances and a breakfast room with a buffet bar that is open to a study area.

The master bedroom and bath showcase tree-top views.

The master bath includes separate wet areas, a walk-in shower and spa soaking tub.

One of the home’s three large secondary bedrooms is currently being used as a home office. Additional highlights include a wine room and a tree-top, screened terrace.

With a total of three bedrooms and 2½ baths, this home at 5715 Logan Lane is priced at $2,150,000.
