Lawrence Guenther, 93, of Deer Park, TX passed away on December 8, 2017.

He was born on April 27, 1924 in Grapeland, TX to Otto Joe Guenther and Jewel Killon Guenther and lived in Rusk, TX until his adult years. Lawrence served in the U.S Navy during WWII. He resided in Houston until 1975 and retired from Brown & Root with 28 years of service.

Lawrence was a former member of the Memorial Lutheran Church; St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Good Shepard Luther Church and was a current member of Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He was also a member of Brown & Root Retirees Associatio­n and Houston County Forest Landowners Associatio­n.

Lawrence was an honest, hard-working family man who loved his wife and family dearly. He was a master carpenter and craftsman and most of all a man of integrity.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Claire Samuelson Guenther, daughter Sharon McKay and both of his parents.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Lawrence Guenther and his wife Estela, brother Bill Guenther, sister Louise Kravitz as well as by various nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Christ Redeemer Lutheran Church, 8909 Spencer Hwy, La Porte, TX 77571. Visitation will be on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 7:00pm. Funeral Service will begin on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 1:00pm followed by a reception at the church and a committal service that will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
