Mary Lynn Jones, 87, died peacefully on November 4, 2017, in Houston, Texas.

Mary Lynn was born on January 7, 1930 in Eastland, Texas to Floyd and Buena Burchfield. She attended Tyler Junior College , where she was an Apache Belle and met the love of her life, Loyce Jones. They were married in 1949, and had four children. Loyce preceeded her in death after 48 years of marriage.

Mary Lynn was an officer with the American Business Women’s Associatio­n, an active PTA parent, big supporter of the Boy Scouts and mother to an Eagle Scout. She worked at the High School for Performing and Visual Arts from 1973 to 1994. From 1982 to 2000, Mary Lynn was Artifact Registrar with the University of South Florida Excavation­s at Sepphoris in Israel, led by her brother Dr. James F. Strange.

Mary Lynn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Caroline Jones of Cedar Crest, NM; her daughter and son-in-law, Vonna and Charles Knapp of Lawrence, IN; her daughter and son-inlaw, Vickie and William Sellers III of Houston, TX; her son David Jones of Houston, TX; her brother and sister-inlaw, Dr. James F. Strange and Carolyn of Tampa, FL; one grandchild, five great-grand children, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held at the First Christian Church, 1601 Sunset Blvd., Houston, TX 77005 on January 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
