Lack of bias

- Hal Wells, Houston

Regarding “Shame on Chron,” “Evident Bias” and “Disgusting Hats” (Page A12, Friday), I wish to offer my support to the Chronicle for your excellent reporting.

The press has so many daily articles and photos (most of them not very complimentary, by the way) of President Trump, that we do not need any more. Well, perhaps just one more: when he resigns or is impeached.

Your emphasis on Hurricane Harvey, the rescue and recovery efforts thereafter, and the Astros World Series win is absolutely spot-on.

The visits of the president, vice president and first and second ladies had no positive impact whatsoever on the region and may well have negatively impacted the recovery efforts by diverting important resources to the requisite protection details. At best, the visits were shameless publicity stunts aimed at demonstrating that the president actually cares about his constituents; very few are convinced that this is the case.

As shown by the polls and by the actual vote count, the president is not supported by a majority of the U.S. population.

As for the hats worn during the Women’s March, I believe the women wearing these hats had an excellent point to make and made that point very eloquently. The fact that you published the above noted letters is proof of your lack of bias. Keep up the good work.
