FRANK CORSO

1931-2018

-

Francis J. (Frank) Corso, 86, was received into the arms of his Savior on January 9, 2018, surrounded by family. He was born in Houston, Texas to Carlo Corso, of Montevago, Sicily and Rose Saladino Corso of Franklin, Louisiana.

Frank was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, and he will be deeply missed. He attended St. Thomas High School, where he lettered in football. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.

Frank had an incredible work ethic, and “retirement” was not in his vocabulary. He was proud to work 20 years for Texas Instruments and then his last 27 years for Cannonball Trucking, logging 3,000,000 miles and winning numerous awards. He competed in the Senior Olympics and won several gold and silver medals. He had a strong faith and fervently believed in the power of prayer. Frank enjoyed being with family and made every gathering a fun event. He was incredibly kind and upbeat, always ready to help both friend and stranger, joyful, strong, wise, and hilarious.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Tony Corso and wife Angie, and Lee Corso, his sister Pauline Marino and husband John, and his brothers-in-law, Frank Mandola and Frank Stabler. He is survived by his sons Carlo Corso and wife Vicki, Joseph Corso and wife Sharon, his daughters Rosanette Toner and husband Jeff, Mary Donna Bishop and husband Paul, Francine Howard and husband Kevin; his former wife, Frances Quartaro; his sister, Bessie Stabler; his grandchildren: Nikki Corso, Christie Corso, Scott Toner, David Toner, Robert Corso, Charlie Corso, Mary Kathryn Corso, Emily Bishop, Rachel Howard and Michelle Howard; his sister-in-law Lena Mandola, his brother-in law, Michael Dichiara and wife Antoinette; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frank’s family is grateful to the nurses and staff of the 9th Floor, Jones Building, Methodist Hospital, and his caretaker team at Brookdale, all of whom provided such loving assistance to him in his last weeks.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, at Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway in Houston, from 5-8 p.m. with remembrances beginning at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 18, at 10 am at Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home, where Rev. Bruce Bumgardner will officiate. The gravesite service will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street.
