Douglas C. Moore, 77, of Houston, TX succumbed to Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) cancer in hospice care, at his home surrounded by his beloved children, on Tuesday morning at 3:30 a.m., January 17, 2017. Born in Charlotte, N.C. to parents Mr. Adel Moore and Mrs. Mae Edwards Moore. Nickname was D.C. Moe. Marriages were to Mrs. Sonia Moore of England. Mary Ferguson Moore and Patsy K. Moore. Douglas spent his childhood and adolescenc­e in Charlotte, N.C. until the age of 17. Douglas was educated in Mecklenbur­g ISD from 1944-1950, Charlotte Technical High School from 1951-1952. Douglas was from a Military family. For this reason, he sought permission from his parents to enlist early in the USAF. During Douglas’ service he was stationed in England, Belgium, Texas and California. Douglas was a passionate, generous, hardworkin­g self- made man that believed in being an active participat­ory member of society. Douglas began working at the age of 6 selling newspapers for the Charlotte News. In Douglas’ spare time he enjoyed reading the Houston Chronicle and Readers Digest, watching football and baseball, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, National Geographic, Discovery, the History and Weather channel. Douglas’ military experience and accolades as USAF Staff Sergeant were as follows: 1961 Pope Air Force Base. Establishi­ng the Aerial Mail Terminal for NATO, SHAPE, U.S. Embassy and various Military Air Advisory Groups, An Associate at Modern Brussels, Belgium. Dec. 15, 1967 completed courses at Air University, USAF Administra­tive Practices. From 1967-1968 was stationed at Brussels Internatio­nal Airport Mail Headquarte­rs for NATO. July 18, 1969 Post Office Department Certificat­e of Training Operation Transition Hamilton Air Force Base. Douglas was granted an honorable discharge in 1972. Longtime friend and fellow USAF Sergeant John Parker invited Douglas to relocate to Texas in order to pursue a career in the promising automobile industry. Douglas was the General Manager for Sam Montgomery Oldsmobile for many years. In 1979 Douglas embarked on a new career as business owner with partner Jim Anderson. Their partnershi­p ended amicably in 1982. From 1982-2017 Douglas was the owner of Automobile Brokers of Houston. Additional­ly, Douglas owned numerous investment residentia­l and commercial properties. Douglas served on the HOA board as VicePresid­ent from 1992-2017. Longtime employees were Belinda and Lori Garza, Ofilia Gutierrez and Neal Newman. Douglas was extremely proud of his two sons, Douglas C. Moore I and Justin James Moore “J.J.” (Farzaneh) and daughter Nina Marie Moore, step-daughter Yvonne Lynn Welch and grandchild­ren Sofia Isabella, Nico Douglas Moore and Sebastian Alexander. Douglas is survived by sisters Justin James Moore’s Betty Moore Allen, Sue Moore Mullins of Charlotte, North Carolina and Richard Moore of Houston, Texas; as well as many loving nieces and nephews in South and North Carolina.
