MARILYN ISOBEL SILVERTHOR­N (STOVER)

Marilyn Isobel Silverthor­n, 89, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018 in Tamarac, Florida.

She was Loyal, Compassion­ate and loved the Lord.

Marilyn was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 16, 1928. She graduated from Classen High School in 1946. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was an Alpha Chi Omega and met the love of her life, Robert S. Silverthor­n. Their marriage lasted 65 years until his death. After leaving OU, they spent nine years in the USMC, living in VA, NC, MD and Hawaii, then in the oil and gas business in PA, NJ, Toronto and TX. They settled in Houston, Texas in 1974 and founded REVCO Trading Inc. and Energy Buyers Service Corporatio­n which traded in oil and natural gas. She was a member of Memorial Drive Methodist Church, Tallowood Baptist Church and then Memorial Drive Presbyteri­an Church in Houston. She volunteere­d with Memorial City Hospital and the Girl Scouts of America. She and her late husband founded the Robert Silverthor­n and Marilyn I. Silverthor­n Foundation, known as RSMIS, which gifted grants to various charities over the last 24 years. She chaired the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n Zenith Fellows for several years and supported the Salvation Army, Campus Crusade for Christ, Texas 4-H, the Houston Livestock Show Scholarshi­ps and other education, ministry and veteran programs. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmothe­r; doing puzzles; making chocolate chip cookies for her grandchild­ren and sailing on the Silver Lining and Internatio­nal travel. She was a lifelong Oklahoma Sooner and Astros baseball fan. She raised her four children to be successful and independen­t.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Cyrus and Thamazene Elizabeth Roberts Stover of Oklahoma City, OK, husband, Robert Silverthor­n of Houston, TX and sister, Virginia Cunningham (Gene) of Oklahoma City.

Marilyn is survived by her son Robert Silverthor­n Jr. (Rusti) of Louisville, KY and three daughters Marie Silverthor­n (William Giolma) of Dallas, TX, Virginia Schulte (Mark) of Louisville, KY and Carolyn Bierman (Mike) of Parkland, FL; nine grandchild­ren, Robert Silverthor­n III, Christine Silverthor­n, Dr. Marilyn Copeland (Jeff ), Mark Schulte Jr. (Shannon), Dr. David Schulte (Megan), Jonathan Schulte (Rebecca), Michael Bierman (Amanda), Danny Bierman (Missy) and Austin Bierman (Krystal); and 16 great grandchild­ren, including one born January 18, 2018.

A funeral service and placement with her late husband will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, VA at a later date.
