Worth Allen Washburn, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, the 16th day of 2018. Worth was born January 21, 1923 in Flynn, Texas, the son of John David Washburn and Vesta Vain House Washburn. Worth moved to Houston when he was 18 years old and remained in the area the rest of his life. He served in the Army during WW II in the Philippine­s. Worth worked for many years at Great Southern Life Insurance Co. and later joined the executive team at Columbia Universal Life Insurance Co.

Worth was predecease­d by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Washburn. Worth was also predecease­d by his brother, JD Washburn, and was the last of over 30 close first cousins on his mother’s side of the family. Worth is survived by his children, Jan Locander and her husband Robert, Wayne Washburn and his wife Kathy; and his grandchild­ren Amy WigginsFer­nandez and her husband Ryan Fernandez, MichaelWig­gins, Laura Washburn and Elizabeth Washburn as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank Silverado and his caregivers for their devoted service and his many friends who supported him and his family over the years.

A memorial service will be held at Tomball United Methodist Church, 1603 Baker Drive in Tomball at 11 am on Monday, January 22nd, 2018. Immediatel­y following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributi­ons in Mr. Washburn’s name be directed to Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries or Tomball United Methodist Church.
