Jesse Thomas Traywick III, age 82, of League City, Texas, passed away peacefully late Saturday night on January 7, 2018. He was the proud son of Mona Louise Dudley and Colonel Jesse Thomas Traywick Jr., who served honorably in the Phillipine­s in WWII as General Wainwright’s Assistant Chief of Staff and who was first entrusted to deliver the handwritte­n letter of surrender to the Japanese, and was then forced to march to a POW camp in what is known as the “Bataan Death March”. Jesse was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia on November 7, 1935. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Ann Traywick and is survived by his two step-daughters, Electra V. Muse and Debra A. Koplin, his grandchild­ren, Caris Christine Brown and Stuart Paul Brown, his nephew, Kenneth Alston Kohler, his niece, Mona Louise Knapp, and his sons-in-law, Jimmy L. Bordwine and David L. Koplin. Jesse lived a full and wonderful life; acquiring a BS Degree in Industrial Engineerin­g from Georgia Tech, attending Georgetown University where he was a classmate and friend of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, acquiring a Masters Degree in Secondary Education from Our Lady of the Lake University, attending Sam Houston State University, attending the Seminary, and was also a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army serving as an Ordinance Supply Officer and continuing on for ten years in the Army Reserves, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1969. He was an outstandin­g engineer and teacher and went on to open his own extremely successful floral shop, Traywick’s Flowers and Gifts. Jesse was a spiritual man and had a very kind and generous nature. He loved sports and gardening and tracking radio signals. He was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He was deeply devoted to his family. Jesse loved a good joke, a good beer, and a good game with a good group of folks. His life was blessed with so many dear friends. He will remain in our memories and in our hearts forever. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Butler’s Courtyard, 122 Michigan Ave. in League City, Texas, 77573.
