St. Patrick’s Day events abound in The Woodlands

Those who are looking for some Irish fun, green beer and corned beef and cabbage can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the right way with several events in The Woodlands celebrating the green.

One of the bigger events is the St. Patty’s Day Shindig, set for March 17 at Town Green Park in The Woodlands.

Inspire Productions LLC is hosting the familyfriendly event that has something for everyone: delicious food, green beer, live music, Irish dancers, leprechauns, artists and vendors. There are even activities for children in the kids zone.

This is the second year for the event and Trey Diller, event organizer with Inspire Productions LLC, said the festival is expected to be even bigger than last year.

“We’ve already doubled the amount of ticket sales at this time last year,” he said.

Attendees can enjoy games, activities and their choice of celebratory beverage. Diller said green beer, margaritas, Irish beer and other hand-crafted drinks will be available.

“St. Patrick’s Day is a big Irish celebration. People like to pretend they’re Irish for a day and we try to give them a festive environment. St. Patrick’s Day is a big event that involves a lot of drinking so we’ll have green beer,” Diller added. “And it’s not every day you get to hear bagpipes so we’ll have bagpipe performances. We just want to give people a little taste of what it’s like to be Irish for a day.”

Because there will be copious amounts of alcohol on-site, Inspire Productions has worked with local law enforcement to implement the appropriate safety measures.

“We have police officers on site and ID check at every point of sale. The entire venue is fenced in. There’s only one entry and one exit,” Diller explained.

Admission is free for children, teachers, military and first responders with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at https://inspireprod.com or for $5 at the gate.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY AT THE GOOSE

St. Patrick’s Day is the favorite holiday of the year for employees and patrons at The Goose’s Acre’s – and the restaurant staff doesn’t hold back on the festivities. Doors open at 8 a.m. for a fun-filled day featuring bagpipes, Irish dancers, green beer and more.

From noon to 2 a.m., attendees can enjoy live bands on two different stages — one upstairs, one downstairs — starting with acoustic sets and increasing to full band ensembles as the day goes on.

Breakfast will be served from 8-10:30 a.m. and lunch and dinner from 11 a.m.-1 a.m. featuring traditional Irish fare.

The Goose’s Acre is located at 21 Waterway Ave., Suite 140, The Woodlands. To learn more about St. Patrick’s Day festivities and events during the week leading up to it, call 281-466-1502.

CHILDREN’S MUSEUM TO HOST IRISH CELEBRATION

The Woodlands Children’s Museum will bring a wee bit o’ Irish culture to the community on March 16 and 17 when Irish dancing and a juggling show will be hosted in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Activities will take place 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280.

Angela Colton, executive director of the museum, said the event is a popular one each year.

“We know children will love the energy and fun that the dancers infuse into their performances. And our juggler, Claude Sims, always is a hit. Not only is he a talented juggler, he has a real knack for connecting with young audiences,” Colton said.

The St. Patrick’s Day activities are included in the museum’s $6 daily admission for visitors age 1 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The Woodlands Children’s Museum is recommended for ages 7 and younger.
