NANCY CAROLYN BOONE REYNOLDS

Nancy Carolyn Boone Reynolds (80) was born at the tail end of July in 1937. The Texas heat was in her blood from the start, and she was as proud a Texan as they come.

She was prouder still of her family, her life’s work. Over the decades, she served as a tiny fortress of strength for her nieces and nephews, children and grandchildren. She was a salve for our disappointments and broken hearts, and for this greatest heartbreak of all, she has given us each other for support as her final, enduring gift.

Nancy was born in Austin to a family rich in love and laughter, and that love informed every decision she made. When the going got toughest, she acted on instinct to get there quickly and stayed until the worst had passed. She was generous with her time and resources, but only when it came to others; foil got rewashed in her kitchen, but she delighted in draping her granddaughters in diamonds and furs.

Our darling Nancy was a bright, beautiful young woman who caught the eye of her lifelong husband, Benny, one afternoon on the school bus. Together, they had two children, Sheri and Shell, who she raised with a strong sense of morality and a creative approach to discipline.

She continually surprised us all with her sense of humor; she enjoyed travel and taking in the American landscape, but her heart and soul were always at home - in Austin, Houston, and finally, in Horseshoe Bay. She passed along her love of reading and crossword puzzles, but most importantly, she imprinted her unconditional love on all those she had to leave behind.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Doris, her sister, Rita, and her husband, Benny. She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and her granddog, Ellie.

A memorial celebration will be held in her honor at 2pm on Saturday, March 17, at 608 Big Spur in Horseshoe Bay, TX. In lieu of flowers, we request donations in her memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

We were so lucky to have had her, and she will live on in our memory forever.
