CHARLOTTE ABRAMSON

1924-2018

-

Longtime Houstonian, Charlotte Borger Abramson passed away peacefully in her home, March 27. Charlotte was born to Max and May Borger, Halloween, 1924. Her happy childhood was spent with parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends, all very involved in the Houston Jewish community. Her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Yetta Tirus, were among the founders of Congregation Beth Yeshurun. Charlotte graduated San Jacinto High School, was a member of the spirit organization, The Golden Gauchos, and after graduation pursued an interest in classical music and playing the piano. The opera and the symphony were favorite past times.

During World War II, she met her soulmate on the steps of Beth Yeshurun, where young people mingled. They were inseparable for 65 years, and had 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, all loves of their lives.

They enjoyed taking the family on weekend trips to Galveston for beach-picnics, overnights in the condo, and lots of fishing and boating. Charlotte and Sam traveled the world. On return, Charlotte shared every detail with family and friends. Her special group of girlfriends played Mahjong for over 50 years. They also had special poker, square dancing and travel groups.

Charlotte proved a talented caregiver, nursing Sam through many years of poor health. Nothing stopped them from attending birthday parties for family and friends, grandchildren’s football games, recitals, graduations, and holiday celebrations.

Charlotte will be remembered for her loving smile, being a friendly and gracious conversationalist, and a genuinely nice person to all. She will be missed, but remembered by survivors: children: Shirley (Leonard) Lebow, Joyce (Steve) Fadem and Ronny (Linda) Abramson; grandchildren: Melissa (Marc) Ladin, Dr. Richard (Kelly) Lebow, Bradley (Jennie) Lebow, Stephanie (David) Wise, Joey (Robyn) Fadem, Robert Fadem, Dory Hillman, and Andy (Stephen) Segari; great-grandchildren: Mac and Noah Ladin, Henry, Sam and Jack Wise, Brody and Ellie Hillman, Dakota and Sarah Fadem, Olivia, Benjamin and Nate Lebow, Madison and Hannah Lebow; sister: Dorothy Burnstein; Brother: Jules (Rozie) Borger, sister-in-law: Blanche Abramson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased in death by parents, Max and May Borger, husband, Sam Abramson, Brothers-in-law Hymie and Harry (Doris) Abramson, Milton Burnstein.

The family is very grateful for the loving care given by Lyn Bertrand and Chaplin Chris and the loving caregivers of Vitas Hospice Care.

Donations can be made to Congregation Beth Yeshurun Harvey Recovery Fund.
