Dr. Louis Daily, Jr. was born in Houston, Texas to Dr. Louis Daily, Sr. and Dr. Ray (Karchmer) Daily. He was a proud alumnus of Choate Prep School, now Choate Rosemary Hall. He graduated from Harvard University in 1940 and received a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas at Galveston in 1943 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1950. He was a resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1947- 1950. He then began an individual practice in medicine, specializi­ng in ophthalmol­ogy at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston. He was also a professor of ophthalmol­ogy at Baylor Medical School. He was President of the Board of Directors of the Museum of Medical Science in 1980-1982.

Dr. Daily was a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmol­ogy and was in practice with his mother, Dr. Ray Daily beginning in 1957. They traveled the world together lecturing on ophthalmol­ogy.

He was a member of the editorial board of Pediatrics Ophthalmol­ogy from 19641968 and associate editor of the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Monthly from 1962 to 1965 and the Journal of Ophthalmol­ogic Surgery. He was a Diplomate of the American Board ophthalmol­ogy, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the Internatio­nal of College Surgeons. He was also chairman of the Texas Society of the Prevention of Blindness from 1968 to 1970. He was on the Executive Board of the Contact Lens Associatio­n of Ophthalmol­ogists and President from 1963 to 1964.

Dr. Daily served as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve from 1945 to 1946.

He is preceded is death by his parents, Dr. Louis Daily, Sr. and Dr. Ray K. Daily, by his wife of 60 years LaVerl Daily and by his beloved son, Collin Derek Daily. He is survived by his son Evan Daily, Tina Daily, his grandchild­ren Dakotah Daily and Isabeau Daily and by his loyal caretaker, Juan Adolfo Ortiz.

A memorial service will be held for both Dr. and Mrs. Louis Daily on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:00 in the morning at the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion at the McGovern Centennial Gardens located at 1500 Hermann Drive in Houston, Texas.
