-

Jerry Thomas Schwartz of Houston, TX, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, ending his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He joins his beloved wife of 61 years, Rena Nagar Schwartz.

Jerry was born January 2, 1932 in Dallas, TX to Sarah Karasik Schwartz and Tommy Schwartz. He was their only child. However, after meeting and marrying Rena, he embraced her huge family of 7 siblings. They became his family and he and Rena spent many dinners, celebrations and holidays all together.

After serving his country in the Army, Jerry began his long career in sales at Foley’s and later Levi Strauss. After leaving Levi Strauss, Jerry went into business for himself until his retirement. For many years Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially loved the holidays when his family was together. He regularly attended his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and cheered them on from the stands. Jerry was a life long, devoted, Dallas Cowboys fan.

Jerry’s life is celebrated by his children, Ben Schwartz and his wife Mary Rose, Steve Schwartz and Daughter-in-law, Traci Schwartz, Kim Smith and Son-in-law, Vince Smith. Jerry will be dearly missed by his 7 grandchildren, Michael Schwartz, Lindsey Schwartz, Matthew Schwartz, Daniel Smith, David Schwartz, Brett Smith and Nicole Schwartz. He is also survived by his Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Helen and Allen Lerner, Joyce and Aaron Schneider and Doris Harris and a very large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Jerry’s Family would also like to acknowledge his devoted caregivers. Many thanks to Samuel Dona, Loida Mais, and Flor Prat. Your devotion to Jerry’s well being and dignity was so appreciated.
