Mary “Louise” Purvis, 98, passed away peacefully April 12, 2018 in Council Bluffs, IA.

Louise was born March 31, 1920 in Humble, TX to the late Lon and Estelle (McDonald) Porter. She graduated from Reagan High School, Houston, in 1937 and later from Houston Business College. Louise married Liley Paul Purvis on July 3, 1940 in Houston and was blessed with two children, Gordon and Suzanne. She was a charter member of Tallowood Baptist Church, and was a bookkeeper working for insurance agents, Creekmore & Jacobs and R.B. Bowen & Co. In retirement, Louise and Liley enjoyed traveling the US, attending 18th Seabee Battalion reunions, Shriner events, Telephone Pioneers luncheons, Ft. Bend Opry and square dancing.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Liley Paul Purvis in 1993; sister Lucille Sparks and brother Albert Porter. She is survived by her son Gordon Purvis and wife Frances (Hemphill, TX); daughter Suzanne Kossow and husband Robert (Council Bluffs, IA); grandchild­ren Ashleigh Purvis, Sara, Sandra and Samantha Wallin; 4 great-grandchild­ren; niece, Cathy Metz and husband Don (Deer Park, TX).

Graveside services will be 10am Tues. April 17 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

The family suggests memorials to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Galveston, TX.
