No. 1 Florida hands A&M another loss

COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M Aggies dropped the second game of its series against No. 1 Florida, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

The loss dropped Texas A&M to 33-14 overall and 11-12 in the Southeaste­rn Conference. Florida improved to 38-10 overall and 18-5 in league play.

Aggies starter John Doxakis (6-3) worked five innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out five. Asa Lacy worked the final four innings, yielding two runs, one earned on two hits. TEXAS SOUTHERN 11 GRAMBLING ST. 3

Kamren Dukes went 2-for-5 to extend his Division I-leading hitting streak to 33 games, and Texas Southern routed Grambling State at MacGregor Park to continue its dominance at home.

Texas Southern, which clinched the Southweste­rn Athletic Conference West Division title Friday, won for the 12th time in 13 home games to improve to 23-25 and 17-5 in conference play. NEW ORLEANS 2 HOUSTON BAPTIST 1

The Huskies stranded 11 runners in dropping a decision to the Privateers in their Southland Conference series finale at Husky Field.

The Lions (31-18, 18-8 Southland Conference) put up 15 hits on the day — 14 singles — and managed to plate a pair of runs in the top of the 11th to even up the series in Huntsville.

The Bearkats (33-14, 19-4) erased a three-run deficit with three two-out runs in the fifth, but were unable to plate another the rest of the day, leaving 10 runners on base against a quintet of Lion arms. RICE SWEEPS UTSA

Trei Cruz homered and finished with four RBIs, and the Owls defeated the Roadrunner­s 8-3 in an opener of a doublehead­er in San Antonio before winning 4-3 in the finale to sweep the twin bill.

Rice improved to 20-25-2 and 9-12-2 in Conference USA.

UTSA fell to 25-20 and 11-11. TCU 4, LAMAR 3

Jake Eissler had a careerhigh 12 strikeouts while allowing just one hit over six innings, and the Horned Frogs got a trio of home runs in a win over the Cardinals in Forth Worth to improve to 26-18. Lamar fell to 15-33. CENTRAL FLORIDA SWEEPS UH

The Golden Knights defeated the Cougars 3-2 and 6-4 (12 innings) at Schroeder Park to sweep a doublehead­er at Schroeder Park. UH fell to 28-19 and 13-7 in the American Athletic Conference. PRAIRIE VIEW, PINE BLUFF SPLIT

The Panthers defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 12-3 in the teams’ doublehead­er finale to salvage a split after falling 6-5 in the opener at Prairie View.

Prairie View A&M improved to 13-32 and 8-15 in the Southweste­rn Athletic Conference.
