CHI St. Luke’s Health nurses honored for clinical excellence
CHI St. Luke’s Health is dedicated to its mission of enhancing community health through high quality, compassionate care.
Nurses at CHI St. Luke’s make a difference in the lives of Houstonians and patients from around the world by upholding the highest ethical standards and improving patient outcomes. The care provided extends beyond just the medical needs of patients and their families — CHI St. Luke’s is committed to caring for the whole person in mind, body, and spirit while delivering its mission of creating healthier communities.
“As nurses, we are blessed to experience a career where we have the ability to enhance the lives of patients entrusted to us on a daily basis,” said Lorie Shoemaker, RN, CHI Texas Division chief nursing officer. “We share a culture of excellence that celebrates diversity, cultivates teamwork and delivers the highest quality care to patients. I am proud to celebrate our team members who are being honored for their outstanding clinical work, including Lisa Cushman, MS, BSN, RN, NE-BC; Reyman Herrera, BSN, RN-CM; Jennifer Nitschmann, MSN, RN; and Lisa Williams, RN, MBA; along with all of our CHI St. Luke’s nursing professionals during National Nurses Week.”
CHI St. Luke’s recognizes the role nurses play each day in providing a safe, healing environment for patients. Recognized for having a four-time ANCC Magnet-designated academic medical center and a clinical team who has made a big impact in medicine over the past 60 years, CHI St. Luke’s supports its nurses so they can provide high quality care to patients who have experienced a variety of medical procedures such as:
• Heart transplant, left ventricular assist device, artificial heart, and valve replacements;
• Bariatric surgery;
• Robotic and minimally invasive surgery;
• Thoracic surgery;
• Liver, kidney and lung transplants; and
• Neuro, orthopedic, ENT and plastic surgery.
“It’s rewarding to work for a health care system where we are surrounded by medical professionals who are passionate about caring for those in need,” Shoemaker said. “I am thankful for the dedication of our nurses, and honored to lead a nursing team that supports one another, delivers superior clinical care with advanced clinical knowledge, and advocates for our patients.”
The CHI Texas Division, which encompasses CHI St. Luke’s Health, CHI St. Joseph Health and CHI St. Luke’s HealthMemorial, offers a network of care, including 17 hospitals and numerous medical facilities across 22,000 square miles.
