HomeAid Houston announces new leadership as Bette Moser retires
After 13 years of service and dedication to HomeAid Houston, Bette Moser is retiring as executive director of this 501(c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), that builds transformational housing for homeless care agencies in Houston.
Moser will be assisting the new executive director Carl B. Salazar through the transition beginning Aug. 14. As part of his many responsibilities, Salazar will be working with the HomeAid Board of Directors and leading the HomeAid staff.
Salazar, a native of Santa Fe, New Mexico comes to HomeAid from the City of Houston where he served as director of Veterans Affairs under both mayors Turner and Parker. In this role, he led efforts to serve veterans and their families with support in employment, mental health, housing, and other needs. Salazar graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and served 11 years that included deployment in the Persian Gulf during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Salazar graduated with an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. His business career includes roles in manufacturing, distribution and management consulting. He also launched Expedition Balance, a 501(c)(3) charity that serves veterans with yoga, mindfulness, and other tools to help them heal from invisible wounds of service.

His depth of experience and his personal commitment to bettering the lives of others reflect his work ethic and his level of integrity.”

HomeAid Houston was established in 2003 to work with Houston homeless care providers to build and renovate shelters that transform lives. By partnering with GHBA builders, remodelers, developers and suppliers, HomeAid is able to effectively multiply the impact of gifts provided by generous donors.
Since 2003, HomeAid Houston has completed 48 projects, that added $14.7 million in real estate to Houston’s homeless community, and provided beds for more than 20,000 homeless men, women and children.
