Cane Island celebrates ‘Falltastic’ time of the year

-

Katy’s Cane Island will celebrate the most “falltastic” time of the year in October, when the community of new homes presents a free family event featuring live pumpkin carving demonstrations, bounce houses and food truck cuisine along with an open-to-the-public collection of masterfully carved, oversized pumpkins in each of its showcase model homes.

Cane Island’s Falltastic celebration kicks off Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with live carving demonstrations by Sean Fitzpatrick of Boston, one of the nation’s foremost pumpkin artists.

Fitzpatrick’s carved pumpkins have appeared on NBC’s Today Show, The Talk on CBS and in Times Square’s Ripley’s Believe It Or Not. Free and open to the public, the family event in the community’s Cane Quarter also will offer food truck cuisine available for purchase, music and bounce houses.

Fitzpatrick’s collection of carved masterpieces will then be on display in each Cane Island model home through Oct. 31 with free admission daily. Ideal for pre-Halloween photos and standing about 2 feet tall, the one-of-a-kind carved works are expected to range from the creepy and spooky to the hilarious and absolutely outrageous.

While at Cane Island’s Falltastic celebration, visitors can stop by the community’s Welcome Center to register for weekly $250 gift card drawings. (No purchase is necessary. Entry forms are readily available, and each entry has an equal chance of winning.)

To reach Cane Island, take the Cane Island Parkway exit off I-10, west of Grand Parkway. Head north 1½ miles on Cane Island Parkway to the community entrance.

Opened in 2015, the 1,200-acre community presents luxury homes from the mid-$200.000s from several award-winning builders.

The 2016 GHBA Community of the Year, Cane Island provides the convenience of I-10 access, west of Grand Parkway, proximity to major west Houston employers and Katy ISD schools, including the all-new Bryant Elementary.
