Kansas puts it all together to knock off TCU 27-26

- From wire reports

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Peyton Bender threw two touchdown passes to Pooka Williams, and the Kansas defense forced a fumble at its 6-yard line with 58 seconds left as the Jayhawks held on to beat TCU 27-26 on Saturday and end a four-game losing streak.

Kansas (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) took the lead on Williams' touchdown grab with 6:13 to go, but the Horned Frogs (3-5, 1-4) and firsttime starter Michael Collins breezed downfield in an attempt to answer it.

Collins converted a thirddown pass to give TCU a firstand-goal at the 9, and Darius Anderson got the ensuing carry. The ball popped out when he hit one of his linemen and the Jayhawks recovered although the officials initially called Anderson down.

The replay gave Kansas the ball. And after Bender took a safety to drain all but one second from the clock, the Jayhawks covered the ensuing squib kick to seal the victory.

Bender has 249 yards passing, and Williams had 102 yards receiving in giving Kansas its second Big 12 victory under embattled coach David Beaty. It also was the first win over the Horned Frogs since 1997 — long before the schools became Big 12 rivals.

Collins had 351 yards passing with a touchdown and an in his terception, and Jalen Reagor had eight catches for 177 yards as TCU lost its third in a row and fifth in six games.

IOWA ST. 40, TEXAS TECH 31

Texas Tech's Alex Bowman was called for a safety with 4:39 left, and Hakeem Butler added a 48-yard touchdown catch from Brock Purdy two minutes later as the Cyclones rallied to beat the Red Raiders at Ames, Iowa.

Bowman's two-point blunder was the break Iowa State (4-3, 3-2) needed to clinch its third consecutive victory behind Purdy.

With the game tied at 31, Bowman fumbled the snap, retrieved the ball and flung it away with foot in the end zone as a hard-charging JaQuan Bailey approached. Bowman failed to get the ball back to the line of scrimmage though, putting Iowa State ahead 33-31.

Butler, who had four catches for 148 yards, then caught a beautiful pass fromPurdy to put the game out of reach.

Purdy threw for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and David Montgomery added 125 yards rushing on 33 carries.

Bowman had 323 yards passing for Texas Tech (5-3, 3-2), but he also had three interceptions. Iowa State linebacker Marcel Spears had two of those interceptions, and he brought one back for a touchdown.

OKLAHOMA 51, KANSAS ST. 14

Kyler Murray passed for 352 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score to help the eighth-ranked Sooners overpower the Wildcats at Norman, Okla.

Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1) rolled up a season-high 702 total yards and only punted once.

CeeDee Lamb caught four passes for a career-high 160 yards and two touchdowns, and Kennedy Brooks ran for 94 yards and two scores.

OU held Kansas State (3-4, 1-4) to 245 yards of offense, and Alex Barnes, who entered the game as the Big 12's leading rusher, was limited to 28 yards on 13 carries.
