Incarnate earns share of SLC title

CONWAY, Ark. — Ra’Quanne Dickens ran 35 times for 213 yards and three touchdowns, and Incarnate Word clinched a share of the Southland Conference title Saturday night with a 40-27 win over Central Arkansas.

Dickens compiled the second-most carries and third-most yards rushing in a game in program history, and the Cardinals (6-4, 6-2) recorded 656 yards of total offense, a program record.

Jordan Hoy threw a pair of touchdown passes to Case Robinson, and the Cardinals rolled over the Huskies in Beaumont.

Kirkland Banks ran for a 5-yard score in the first quarter for Lamar (6-4, 5-3 Southland Conference). Myles Wanza added for 88 yards rushing, including a 22-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Bailey Zappe was 28of-49 passing for 238 yards and threw a touchdown pass and intercepti­on for Houston Baptist (1-9, 0-8).

Ke’Mon Freeman and Xavier Jones each ran for more than 100 yards and combined for five touchdowns as the Mustangs (5-5, 4-2 American) climbed within a win of bowl eligibilit­y by outscoring the Huskies in East Hartford, Conn.

Zac Thomas passed for 247 yards and two touchdowns and Darrynton Evans added a pair of touchdowns runs to propel the Mountainee­rs to a victory over the Bobcats in San Marcos. Texas State fell to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the Sun Belt Conference.

James Morgan threw for three touchdowns, breaking the Golden Panthers’ single-season record with 22, and Florida Internatio­nal routed the Roadrunner­s in San Antonio.

UTSA (3-7, 2-4 Conference USA) avoided its first shutout since 2014 with a last-second touchdown.
