Second suspect sought in Katy boy’s shooting

-

Harris County sheriff ’s deputies are searching for a second teenager who was charged in the Dec. 8 drive-by shooting that wounded a 7-year-old boy in Katy.

Officials said Brandon Wayne Savoie, 18, sat in the passenger seat of his 2003 Infiniti as Omarion Bailey allegedly opened fire on a nearby car. Savoie then tried to hide his car and remove its vehicle identification numbers, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Savoie is charged with tampering or fabricating evidence related to the shooting, and officials are offering up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Bailey, 19, turned himself in Thursday and was being held under a $185,000 bond at the Harris County Jail. He was driving Savoie’s car near Fort Stanton and Grey Hawk on the afternoon of Dec. 8, officials said, when he and Savoie spotted a Cadillac Escalade at the intersection.

Bailey allegedly fired a handgun several times at the car, which was carrying an 18-year-old and his 6-year-old and 7-year-old brothers. The 7-year-old was hit in the upper back and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Harris County Sheriff ’s Office described Savoie as a 5-foot-7 white male who weighs 140 lbs. He has blond hair and blue eyes.

Those with information on Savoie’s whereabouts can contact the sheriff ’s office’s violent crimes unit at 713-274-9100, or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
