River Oaks Country Club was the venue for the annual Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty Circle of Excellence Breakfast. The celebratory gathering of the firm’s professional real estate agents focused on another year of outstanding performance.

Robert Bland was the #1 producer at MTSIR for 2018. The announcement of his achievement was met with thunderous applause and he was presented with a professional A L Merrick surfboard in recognition of his passion for surfing.

President Marilyn Thompson later revealed that the destination for the “Circle of Excellence Trip” is Miami, Florida, which could not be more perfect for Bland.

A surprise appearance by Bland’s family was a touching moment as his father, Robert Bland Sr. gave a loving tribute to his son.

Robert Bland Jr. said it was “an honor to be the number one Top Producer at Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty. we are all working hard. It is very special to have Martha Turner here along with my Dad, my wife, and my daughter.”

Ruthie Porterfield was named #2 producer and Walter Bering, #3 producer.

Margaret Vinson was a first-time Top 10 recipient.

“After starting in real estate just four years ago to being one of the top agents has been an incredible journey, and I am so thankful to my clients for trusting me with their homes,” Vinson said.

Kiran Verma, known as Houston’s godmother of Indian fine dining, addressed the packed ballroom. She is the owner and executive chef of Kiran’s with noteworthy recognitions by Zagat, Wine Spectator and an invitation to the White House for Michelle Obama’s launch of “Chefs Move to Schools.” She interlaced her inspirational story with the role of being a Realtor, citing that both are entrepreneurialbased and require establishing a presence in the community.

Paul Kilian, vice president of operations, expounded on how MTSIR continues to excel in its stellar culture of excellence.

“2019 is the year we will promote the agent more. On top of the agent websites, social media campaigns, custom brochures, technology and materials, we are going to keep doing more for you,” Kilian said. “Real estate is complicated. Let us uncomplicate it for you. Future continued success will be through providing the excellent service we are known for to our clients.”

Following a seated breakfast, Robin Conner, senior vice president, and Marilyn Thompson presented awards to over 100 agents who were named to the 2018 Circle of Excellence with special recognition given to Marlene Rhoden, who has been a member of the Circle of Excellence for 30 years.
