From pickleball to mini-libraries, new Cane Island park will appeal to all ages
The Katy community of Cane Island will soon add to its collection of parks and playgrounds with a unique family setting where residents can enjoy pickleball, one of America’s fastest-growing sports, a sprawling children’s playground and free books available in all-weather mini-libraries.
Cane Island’s Paperback Park will open later this year as one of the few locales in Katy to offer courts for pickleball along with a toddler park, children’s playground, splash pad, synthetic lawn play area, basketball and volleyball courts and shaded pavilion.
Paperback Park also will be home to several mini-libraries, small booksharing units installed by Little Free Library, one of the world’s largest book-sharing movements.
“It’s a place where families can connect with neighbors on the playground
or sports court or simply relax with a good book,” said Lawren Eckhardt, Cane Island director of marketing.
Like Cane Island’s other family settings, Paperback Park will be accessible via winding walking trails that link each of Cane Island’s neighborhoods.
In addition to its parks and playgrounds, the Katy community of new homes features the resort-style Cane Quarter with The Oaks Kitchen & Bar, now open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch; lagoon-style family pool and cabanas; children’s water playground; lap pool; twostory fitness center; yoga studio with on-demand classes; fireplace loft; and central lawn for movie nights, summer concerts and other community gatherings.
With its direct connection to I-10 via one-half mile off Cane Island Parkway, families in the award-winning community are never far from where they need to go.
Residents are in proximity to Grand Parkway, major hospitals and the Energy Corridor.
