Chesmar sells GHBA Benefit home

-

There was never any doubt that Chesmar Homes would sell their 2019 Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit home, a 2,746-square-foot design that offers all the amenities, space and upgrades a family could want.

On July 31, the Reid family become the proud owners of Chesmar’s Mesquite plan, a home that was built with donated materials, labor and services by generous GHBA members.

The bonus in this business transaction was that two local charities will receive proceeds from the sale of the home. HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home will be presented with funds that will go toward their mission to help those less fortunate.

The Benefit home was built within the north Houston landscape of NorthGrove, a Toll Brothers development. NorthGrove is located off FM 2978 in Magnolia, in southern Montgomery County. The community is in proximity to The Woodlands while offering a more small-town feel. It is also convenient to major employers, shopping centers, al fresco dining, and cultural centers.

The community has 200-plus acres of preserved green space, hikeand-bike trails, natural waterscapes, luxury outdoor gathering spaces, three community lakes and a 7.5-acre recreation center called The Retreat. This center gets its name for the 9,400-square-foot clubhouse that is a contemporary lodge design and features amenities.

“Selling and closing the Benefit home put a gold star on the whole process of construction,” said

Scott Merovitch, president of Chesmar Houston division. “We’ve been longtime supporters of our community, and the commitment the GHBA makes to facilitating that through their Benefit Homes Project. This is our sixth home we’ve built and probably not our last home we’ll build for two such valuable organizations.”

Materials, labor and services that are donated by suppliers and vendors are key to the success of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit Homes Project, GHBA’s 39-year-old charity fundraiser. A Benefit home relies on these donations so it can be built with minimal cost. The homes are loaded with upgrades and amenities and are sold at market value.

Since the fundraiser began, nearly $12 million has been raised.

Vendors and suppliers who have committed their donations include PTS, Inc.; Allpoints Surveying, Ellen Lighting & Hardware, Builders Post-Tension, PPG Paints, Lewis & Partners, Action Landscaping, Trus Joist/Weyerhaeuser, Meridian Brick, 1st Infinity, James Hardie, Surface Systems, Emerald Masonary, AHI Supply, Hurricane Construction and Hart Lumber, Austin Windstorm, MTW Pipeworks, GE Appliances, Lanehart Electric, Builders First Source and All About Concrete.
