‘Best Dressed’ class of 2020 revealed
Drumroll, please.
Ahead of Tuesday night’s World Series Nationals versus Astros Game 6 at Minute Maid Park, 10 Houston women won big across town at Neiman Marcus in the Galleria. That’s where the honorees of the 38th annual Houston Chronicle Best Dressed Luncheon and Neiman Marcus Fashion Presentation sponsored by The Woman’s Hospital of Texas were announced in the luxury department store’s second-level couture salon.
Greggory Burk, whose mother died last week and was unable to attend, was named a Hall of Fame inductee. Second-time honorees included Estela Cockrell and Hallie Vanderhider. First-timers Ann Ayre, Alice Mao Brams, Gaynell Drexler, Melissa Juneau, Joanna Hartland Marks, Roslyn Bazelle Mitchell and Leigh Smith rounded out the class of 2020.
Later, Neiman Marcus general manager Stephen Brunelle shared another exciting development. Oscar de la Renta is slated to show looks from the spring/summer runway at the big event, scheduled for March 25 at the Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston. To that end, co-chairs Alicia Smith and Brigitte Kalai have already raised more than $455,000 toward the March of Dimes’ fight for the health of all moms and babies.
Texans’ royalty Hannah and Cal McNair will serve as family ambassadors at the upcoming luncheon. Roosevelt Society chairs Stephanie Tsuru and Dr. Sippi Khurana will represent the top-tier of March of Dimes donors. Kristina Somerville and Lindley Arnoldy will cochair raffle efforts. And Sue Smith, who helped raise a record-shattering $2 million last year with her late husband, Lester Smith, will serve as the event’s first honorary chair.
Our boys in blue and orange may have lost the World Series, but their chic and charitable counterparts scored one for the home team.
