Houstonians find retirement bliss in Texas Hill Country

-

Privacy, scenery, activity and camaraderie. Those are what some retirees are seeking for the next stage of their life, and they’re finding it in the Hill Country.

“We’ve been looking at the Hill Country for several years,” said Jack and Stephanie Leedy. “We love the rolling topography, limestone bluffs, scenic views, and the wonderful towns in the area.”

The 40-year residents of Houston, including the last 20 in The Woodlands, have considered a number of Hill Country communities, but on a recent visit, fate intervened.

While checking into a hotel in the Hill Country, a local hotelier told them “Vintage Oaks was wonderful,” said Stephanie. They visited the next day, and knew it was right for their next step.

Today they have settled into their custom Vintage Oaks home, which overlooks a private ranch, and are enjoying the life they envisioned in making the move from Houston.

“It’s a great mix of people,” said Jack. “The amenities like the fitness club are amazing, and our grandchildren love the lazy river. We also love the neighborhood feel instead of being way out in the country, but we still get incredible views.”

From the 5 miles of trails to the pools and lazy river, they knew their kids and grandkids would be sold on Vintage Oaks.

“We also enjoy all the community events, like the summer concerts and holiday events,” Stephanie said. “We have a bird’s-eye view of the

July 4th fireworks, and the grandkids squealed every time they went off. It’s always a great time here.”
