Privacy, security not a problem with condo living
Privacy and security, no matter where you live, are important aspects of a comfortable secure lifestyle, but especially when it comes to condominium residences where homeowners often partake in the lock-and-leave advantage.
With a street-level structure, residents can be comfortable knowing building management considers all situations when it comes to providing top security features for their homeowners.
Full security
Residents can rest easy knowing it’s not uncommon to find a variety of security measures ranging from a 24-hour patrol both inside and outside the premises to a 24/7 manned entrance. In addition, buildings have omnipresent cameras, limited access controls, security elevators requiring key card access to specific floors, a full-time staff and on-site building manager.
For additional privacy, condo homeowners should know ahead of time, you’ll be sharing three walls with a neighbor, so the best route is looking for a small number of units per floor or a penthouse residence.
Karin Tennant with Greenwood King Properties said the front area is the first area of check-in with visitors.
“Once signed in, the visitor gets announced and then granted access to the elevator and unit of the owners. This also applies to buyers meeting Realtors to view property, then usually the Realtor’s information is being collected,” Tennant said. In the online article, The Benefits of Condo Living in the Las Vegas Sun, it stated that security features are a huge selling point. This is important for residents who are wanting to feel a sense of security knowing not only is there controlled access, but also concierges and courtesy officers available to assist with packages and visitors.
Along with this first line of defense providing peace of mind, the fact that a condo is a community, residents have the opportunity to get to know their neighbors through on-site events and in other common spaces.
Garages and elevators also are essential security points of access.
Typically, residents are given limited fob access for elevators for amenity levels and their personal residential floor. For vehicles, these are labeled with security access stickers for entry and also property sticker identification. Concierge service and valet parking is an amenity that comes in useful for homeowners, their guests and package deliveries.
“Residents usually have one or the other; most likely both,” said Tennant.
As a 25-year veteran of condo living, Tennant said there is peace of mind due to several factors.
“My favorite is the 24-hour concierge service and cameras in all the common areas,” Tennant said.
