Host UH sweeps championships
The host University of Houston Track & Field program men’s and women’s teams swept the American Indoor Championships for the second straight year.
The Cougar women edged Cincinnati, finishing with 84 points. Cincinnati finished in second-place with 83.5 points, followed by third-place finisher Temple with 71 points.
On the men’s side, Houston captured its sixth straight indoor conference championship, finishing with 179 points. Connecticut finished with 129 points for second place and Cincinnati finished in third-place with 101 points.

Akindele finished third in the final at 7.90 and was trailed by Quivell Jordan with a time of 8.04.
Tristan Evelyn won every race she appeared in on the final day of competition, taking both the 60-meter dash and 200meter dash titles.
Houston sprinters swept the podium in the 60meters behind a first-place finish from Travis Collins. Terence Ware finished second at 6.69, followed by Jordan Booker at 6.77. Nora Monie earned the conference crown in the shot put with a toss of 16.07m (52-08.75).

Ben Percefull became the first Cougar to earn a conference title in the pole vault since Alex Bentley in 2007 after clearing 5.21m (17-01.00).
