An innovator in early childhood education, Lawson Early Childhood School has a goal to develop the academic, social and emotional foundations necessary to foster each child’s full potential as a lifelong learner, partnering with families and the community to provide meaningful and engaging early learning experiences.

Uniquely diverse, Lawson serves a population where all students are economically disadvantaged, more than 40 percent are Englishlanguage learners and nearly 30 percent have disabilities. Recognizing the need to introduce students to various learning styles and to accommodate multiple ways to learn, Lawson provides various learning environments beyond the classrooms such as outdoor areas, STEAM Lab, and Motor Lab. The entire Lawson staff is trained in Conscious Discipline, a brainbased social emotional curriculum that helps students develop social emotional skills to enhance academic rigor. At Lawson, engagement is the key to learning. Aligned to TEA Pre-Kindergarten guidelines, curriculum writers design highly engaging, differentiated lessons that provide students opportunities to explore, collaborate, problem solve, and question through play, developing creative, confident risk takers.
