For the Mission CISD School Board, challenges become opportunities. Comprised of professionals with extensive expertise in education, business and law, the Board view their responsibilities through the lens of servant leadership. With lifelong relationships with the community, board members, each a former Mission CISD student or retired district educator, are very involved with the community through their personal careers. From planning to implementation, the Board goes above and beyond to collaborate with the district, city, chamber, local colleges and businesses.

In a district where more than 80 percent of students are economically disadvantaged, there’s an importance on education being the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. To prepare these young minds for the future, partnerships are formed based upon programs that support STEM education, literacy initiatives, staff development, student internships, and growth of career tech education programs. Additionally, students engage in a wide range of extracurricular activities such as athletics, fine arts, and academic competitions.
