Let the count run its course

Election results

Regarding “Time to move on,” (A15, Nov. 16): Let the court cases about the election run their courses. Whether or not they change the apparent outcome, their findings will be beneficial for the integrity of our election system.

The 73 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump to be re-elected should redirect their energies from searching for non-existent voter fraud to convincing their favorite president to do all that is possible to prevent an additional 75,000 or more Americans from dying from COVID-19 between now and Jan. 20.

Coronavirus stats

Regarding “Coronavirus,” (A29, Nov. 15): When the Houston Chronicle first introduced the coronavirus section, I willfully ignored it. The last thing my anxiety needed was a full section dedicated to the horror stories about how the virus was ravaging our community. After a few peeks into the section in the following weeks, I was surprised at how informative the section is — even downright inspirational when it comes to our hometown heroes. I look forward to the Sunday paper each week to see who Lisa Gray has interviewed and what questions she asked about the virus, ventilation, vaccines, etc. I almost always find they are the same questions I have, and she has found just the right expert to answer them. Thank you to all of the staff who are working to bring us balanced, non-partisan updates that help us make informed choices. It is a uniquely critical weapon in this seemingly never-ending fight against the virus.

Texas 288 toll road

Regarding “Toll lanes along Texas 288 to finally open,” (A1, Nov. 16): I tried the new Texas 288 toll road, traveling from Pearland north. Traffic was light, and it was a breeze sailing through the Beltway 8 and 610 Loop interchanges. But when we exited the toll road, intending to take I-69 South, we were in for a surprise. We were dumped onto the four lanes of nontoll 288 traffic with just a short distance to move to the exit. It was tricky enough in light traffic. I can only imagine how many accidents and slowdowns this will cause.
