Fourth generation Houstonian shares expertise with clientele

- By Valerie Sweeten FREELANCE WRITER

Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty Realtor Lynn Zarr Jr. has the knowledge and expertise to assist clients throughout the Inner Loop with a specialty focus in and around Tanglewood, Briargrove, Memorial Villages, River Oaks and West University.

Zarr, a fourth generation Houstonian, said not many people get to sell their “home.” He was influenced by his father, Lynn Zarr Sr., former principal of Heritage Texas Properties and founder of Zarr and Co. Realtors, and has family roots in the Heights, River Oaks, west Houston, Bellaire, Tanglewood, Briargrove, and Memorial.

“I contribute much of my knowledge and success to this,” Zarr said. “I remember the days as a kid when my father got his first ‘car phone,’ and Houston’s MLS listings were in thick publications. The entire purchase contract consisted of one page, front and back. It has been neat to see the changes and technology.”

Zarr, licensed in the 1980s, first started in commercial real estate and later was drawn to the residential side.

“It was a natural fit for me as I love assisting people with their dreams of homeownership and selling. This allows me to interact and rebuild Buffalo Bayou Park, Memorial Park, expand Loop 610 and Post Oak Boulevard, and many other close-in areas. I feel many of these neighborhoods will continue to grow in popularity,” said Zarr.

It’s no surprise Zarr’s dedication to his field has garnered recognition.

He has been ranked as a Company Wide Top Producer since 2002. He’s also a member of Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty’s Circle of Excellence while maintaining a Houston Association of Realtors Client Service Rating of 4.97 out of 5. In addition, Zarr has Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) and Certified Negotiations Expert (CNE) designations.

Zarr, a University of Texas graduate with a BA in economics, added that integrity and honesty, both instilled by his father, are the most important traits to have.

“I think that when it comes to what amounts to many as their largest purchase/sale of their life, they want someone they can trust and depend on to see the job through,” said Zarr.

In his free time, Zarr, father to two, is involved in supporting organizations such as as the Trotter Family YMCA, Briargrove Elementary, Post Oak Little League, Westminster Day School, and CanCare, to mention a few. He also enjoys golfing, hunting, and fishing.
