Greenwood King Properties Realtor Kate Doke, a native Houstonian, blends her knowledge of her hometown, prior five-star work experience and commitment to customer service to offer the best experience for her clients.

Doke, who has a hotel and restaurant management degree from the University of Houston and also achieved recognition as one of the youngest sommeliers, recently celebrated her one-year anniversary in the real estate industry.

Her primary focus throughout Houston is inside the beltway including West University, Bellaire, Braes Heights, Afton Oaks, Highland Village, River Oaks, Montrose, and the Heights neighborhoods.

Doke said that now is the ideal time for buying a house, and all these areas have so much to offer.

“It is a great time to buy due to historically low interest rates. My clients are finding they have a lot more buying power now versus even one year ago. What I love about these areas, and all of Houston in general, is the accessibility to everything you want,” Doke said.

Doke currently resides in Lynn Park, but has also lived in Montrose, Southampton, and Boulevard Oaks.

Working with Greenwood King, a top locally owned real estate firm has allowed Doke, a Bellaire High School graduate, the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients as well as meet their expectations.

With 10 years in the restaurant industry, Doke said it taught her to think quickly, come up with creative solutions for lastminute problems as well as the stress the ability to communicate effectively.

“In that industry, every day is different,” she said. “You have to be flexible, and I find real estate to be the same. Every client, purchase and sale are different, but they all demand the same high level of service.”

Her former training and prior management career were with five-star hotels, private wine storage clubs, and a boutique winedistribution company.

The transition to real estate came when Doke wanted more time to dedicate to family. Today, she and her husband, the owner of Tiny Boxwoods restaurant group, concentrate on their family and professional endeavors.

“I left the hospitality industry to focus on starting a family. In that time, we had three beautiful girls. I chose real estate as a new career as it allows me to maintain my passion for people and having a successful career while providing the flexibility of being available to my girls for everything they need,” Doke said.
