NANCY DEAN DICKEY

-

1937-2021

Nancy Dean Dickey went to be with her Savior on January 11, 2021 at the age of 83, after losing her brief battle against COVID pneumonia. She was at peace and ready to be in glory with Jesus.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Ray Dickey; sister, Mary Holland; son, Mark Dickey and his wife Hazel; daughter, Dana Jimenez and her husband Rod; and grandkids, Simon and Rowan Dickey and

Danny and Andrew Jimenez.

Nancy was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma in 1937, where she lived for ten years before moving to Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1955 and then from the University of North Texas in 1959. After graduation, she became a high school PE teacher in Houston, where she met and married Dr. Ray Dickey. They moved to Oak Lane in Piney Point Village in 1971 and raised their two kids there. Nancy was faithful, care-free, and quick-witted. Her beautiful eyes and smile would light up the room. Her inquisitive nature and sense of humor always made conversations easy and allowed her to make friends wherever she went. She was very athletic and loved playing tennis and watching her grandsons play through the years. Nancy loved Jesus and was involved in Community Bible Study beginning in 1982, making many lifelong friends during those years. She was also an active member of Chapelwood United Methodist church, where she was involved in ministries such as the UMW Vivian Osbourn Circle, Stephen Ministry, Monday prayer group, and Candlelighters Sunday School Class. Over the years she and Ray went on various backpacking trips to Colorado with Chapelwood friends, as well as countless trips to Europe with the Chancel Choir. She also supported Ray’s passion for music box collection and traveled every year to the Music Box Society International conventions.

Our family wishes to express immense appreciation for the love and support of friends, family, doctors, and nurses, who made this ordeal easier for all of us, but especially for Nancy. She went to be with the Lord in peace, ready to be with Him and the friends and family members who have gone before her, including her mother, Arvesta Stephenson; father, Marion Myers; brother, Frank Myers; and her beloved grandson, Liam Dickey.

A celebration of life service will be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church on a date to be determined soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make gifts to the Houston Pregnancy Help Center at PO Box 2323, Houston, TX 77252 or houstonpregnancyhelpcenter.org. Condolences may be offered at www.millerfuneral.com
