PATRICIA ANN CARLYLE HICKS 1928-2021

Patricia Ann Carlyle Hicks, 92, passed away on February 1, 2021, at her home in Houston, TX.

Pat was born on April 7, 1928 in Centralia, Illinois to Henry and Oneida Carlyle. She graduated from Centralia High School and married Harold Hicks after his return from World War II. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they started their family with three children and then to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where they had two more children. Pat and Harold then packed up the family and moved south to Houston, TX in 1960, where they took up permanent residence. While her children were young,

Pat acted as a homemaker, cooking every meal, baking desserts, and sewing clothes for the family. As the children grew up she decided to start working and held a variety of jobs, including school bus driver and office manager at Gilbert X-Ray.

Pat loved fashion, shopping, and socializin­g, and she was known for her outgoing and friendly nature. Her door was always open to anyone who wanted to chat, and she was famous for providing sweet treats for those who came by. She was a friend to all who met her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hicks and granddaugh­ter Kimberly Gregory. She is survived by her sister Sue Padags and her husband Jim, and her five children, Jan Gregory, Marcia Jones, Ken Hicks and his wife Lucile, Joan Ward, Carol Marshall and her husband Mike. She is also survived by seven grandchild­ren, 13 great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many other family members and friends.
