GAY C. BLOSSER
1924-2021
Gay Cullom Blosser, 96, of Houston, TX passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021. Born in Shreveport, LA, she grew up in Carthage and Pine Hill, TX.
Gay graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Business Administration. She moved to Shreveport, LA and worked for United Gas Pipeline Co. It was there she met her future husband, Warren Chase Blosser. She loved her family; her greatest joys were family gatherings and raising her three children in Shreveport and later Houston.
She enjoyed many varied interests throughout her life. Gay was an accomplished dancer with a gift for rhythm and loved going to Big Band dances and later Ballroom dances. She enjoyed playing the piano and studying music theory to improvise and create her own arrangements. For years she played and sang in a ukulele band that traveled around Houston entertaining seniors. In earlier years she was a competitive tennis player known for her ferocious serve. She was an avid reader who especially liked biographies and books on history and politics, which she loved to discuss. She had the rare trait of being a focused listener who always made the speaker feel important. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed Scrabble and crossword puzzles.
Gay was preceded in death by her father Leslie L. Cullom; mother Allyne Cullom Ray; husband Warren Chase Blosser; son David Leslie Blosser; and daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Blosser Weisinger.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Blosser (Katie Leonard); grandchildren Ashley Weisinger Grimes (Justin), Riann Weisinger, Jessica Blosser and Chase Blosser; son-in-law Billy Weisinger; daughter-inlaw Loraine Blosser; cousins Sue Titus Reid and Jill Titus Pickett (Roger); close friends Lesa Shatzer and Cindy Shanley; and other extended family.
