Van Doren Rathgeber,

Jr, 87, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Round Rock, TX. Van was born in

Ft. Worth where he attended Paschal High School and went to TCU where he met his wife, Barbara Beeman Rathgeber. He moved to Houston to stay in 1965, where he and his family settled in Hedwig Village.

Van was an active member, Sunday school teacher, and youth counselor at St. Philip Presbyteri­an Church for many years. While his career was in computers and electronic­s, his passion was sports and the outdoors. He was a playful, caring father and husband, always volunteeri­ng to coach his kids’ sports teams, eagerly planning the next trip, and actively pursuing his hobbies.

In Boy Scouts, he discovered sailing and earned his nickname, Skipper. His other hobbies were soccer, kayaking, scuba diving, and wind-surfing. He was always busy whether it be in the kayak club, the underwater photograph­y club, playing tennis with the church group, or basketball with the youth group. He played soccer into his 60’s and softball into his 70’s. Van and Barbara were fortunate to travel the world, both loving to learn about other people and cultures.

Van never met a stranger.

Van is predecease­d by his wife, Barbara Beeman Rathgeber, and is survived by his son, Van Rathgeber

III and wife, Anna Korhonen; daughter Linne and husband, Gene Atteberry; daughter Karen and husband, Chris Hale; granddaugh­ter Elizabeth and, husband, Chris Hardegree; grandson Brian and, wife, Sarah Atteberry; sister, Faye Willis and her extended family; and six great grandchild­ren.

The family would like to send their gratitude to Kelli Hudson and the caregivers of Sundara Senior Living and Memory Care for all the care and love in making Van’s last years as comfortabl­e and happy as possible.

Billy James Westbrook passed away Feb 11, 2021 in Houston, Tx.

He was born Sept. 14, 1930 in Sand Lake, Tx. to Riley Valentine and Mary Bassham Westbrook.

He was a retired Federal licensed Grain Inspector. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Lynn Clark and son-inlaw, Michael Ewing, Sr., also five grandchild­ren and seven great grandchild­ren, two brothers and two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Tommie Jean Westbrook, son, Stephen Wayne Westbrook, daughter Brenda Ewing, brother, Issac Hesser Westbrook and sister, Neta Rue Royder.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Matagorda Cemetery, Matagorda, Tx. 77457.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Peevey Funeral Home.
