Surrounded by family in Tyler, Texas, Gary Garrett passed away on January 21, 2021 at 83 years old. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Dorothy and Robert Garrett on February 9, 1937. He graduated from University of Texas and went to work as a Petroleum Engineer, following his father’s footsteps in oil and gas. He started CAPCO Industries in 1970 that he led for many years. He was adventurou­s and athletic! When he was younger, he enjoyed sports cars, speed boats, racing sail boats and flying. He loved playing handball and racquetbal­l with close friends in and around Houston. He was also an avid gun collector and was very knowledgea­ble about rifles and pistols. He loved his children and enjoyed coaching his daughters’ softball teams when they were younger. He is sorely missed by his family but we also know that he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus! Due to a stroke in 2017, he lost his eyesight, but now his family takes great comfort in knowing he can see clearly once more. “I once was blind, but now I see...” He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Nancy Garrett; his children, Chris Garrett, Julie and husband Andy Sallee, Kay-Kay and husband Peter Tolsma; and his grandchild­ren, Adam Garrett, Aeon Garrett, Ella Sallee, Andrew Sallee, Anna Kate Tolsma, Peter Tolsma. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Bob and Dorothy Garrett, and his brother, P. Dean Garrett.

A family gathering and Celebratio­n of Life will be held in the Spring.
