Compass’ Cookies for a Cause aims to raise $50,000 for Houston Food Bank
Compass Real Estate has partnered with Moeller’s Bakery to launch a new charitable campaign, “Cookies for a Cause,” as part of their longstanding “COMPASS Stands for COMPASS-ion” platform.
The goal is to raise $50,000 in support of the Houston Food Bank while also supporting Moeller’s — a local bakery that has been a Houston staple since 1930.
Compass agents have already raised $17,500 through the purchase of almost 15,000 blue heartshaped cookies from Moeller’s, which they delivered to their clients’ doorsteps over Valentine’s Day weekend and during the lowest temperatures Houston has seen in over 30 years and for only the fifth time in history. The blue-colored hearts represent compassion for those in our Houston community in need.
‘Wanting to give and help those in need has been such a prominent feeling during these unprecedented times,” says Compass agent Ashley Day. “Often, we want to give but we’re not sure how we can be most impactful. I am so thankful to work with a company like Compass that prioritizes community and compassion through partnering with local business and non-profit organizations that serve our community’s needs.”
Last year, Compass agents raised over $40,000 for Feed the Front Line to support both local healthcare and essential workers on the front lines of the COVID Pandemic and local restaurants.
Proceeds of Compass’ cookie sales are going to the Houston Food Bank, which is one of America’s largest food banks, in distribution leading hunger relief in 18 southeast Texas counties.
“The funds coming from this fundraiser could not have come at a better time,” says Lorena Avillaneda, CNP, community engagement coordinator with the Houston Food Bank. “We are so grateful for the generosity from the Compass team.”
Moeller’s Bakery, one of Houston’s oldest familyowned and operated bakeries, has baked the cookies and will continue to sell the blue, heart-shaped cookies throughout the month of March. For every dozen cookies sold, the Bellaire bakery will donate $1 to the Houston Food Bank.
“We were delighted when Compass approached us to partner on this project to both bring joy to their agents’ clients with our cookies as well as raise money to support the Houston Food Bank,” says Eric Moeller. “We’ve been serving the community for over over 90 years and we are honored to give back to the city that has made our bakery a Houston tradition for three generations.”
