After raising children and stepchildren, Dr. Reper earned a BS (as an invitee of the honor Mortar Board Society) and an MS from the University of Houston, and a PhD from the University of Texas. She was a licensed psychologist and worked as a member of the EAP team at Chevron, for whom she traveled around the country, and to South America multiple times; this was her favorite job.

In retirement, she remained active until cancer bested her but enjoyed her wonderful grandchildren, in whom she had great pride.

Due to Covid concerns, a service to celebrate her life will be postponed. Her remains will be buried next to her former husband, Lt. Cmdr. Ronald R. Reper, at the Veterans National Cemetery in Houston.
