David Norman Wilkes, age 79, died March 3, 2021 in Sugar Land, Texas. David was born March 17, 1941, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Jack D. Wilkes and Hetty Beth Norman Wilkes. He graduated from Ardmore High School and The University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. David had a long career as a landman in the oil and gas industry. He was Vice President of GoldKing Production Company, Brock Energy, and UMC Petroleum Corp. After retirement in 2006, he and his wife Nancy were full time residents of Jamaica Beach, Texas where he enjoyed his workshop, photograph­y, fishing, boating, entertaini­ng friends and family and watching Sooner football games. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Galveston, serving on the Vestry and as Junior Warden during the Hurricane Ike recovery efforts. David was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Wilkes; daughter Laurie Baars and husband Jeff Baars of Seattle, WA; daughter Katherine Wilkes Olson and husband John Olson of Madison, CT; son Daniel Wilkes and wife Cassidy Wilkes of Houston, TX; stepson R.

Burke Trail and wife Denege Trail of Beaumont, TX; grandchild­ren Parker Olson, Margaux Trail, Beau Wilkes, Boone Wilkes, and Breyer Wilkes; his brother J. Larry Wilkes and wife Mary Ann of Ardmore, OK, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A memorial service for David will be held April 10, 2021 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 806 Thompson

Road, Richmond, TX at

10:00 A.M. The service will be live streamed and informatio­n about the livestream is available at www.dignitymem­orial.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to The Parkinson’s Foundation or to Calvary Episcopal Church.
